Why I don’t Watermark my Photography

Watermarks have their place - but in lifestyle family and elopement photography, I think they shouldn’t be used hardly at all! Why?

  1. They take the attention away from the beautiful people in my images

  2. Not only are they ugly, they don’t stop people from stealing my photos

  3. I WANT you to post my work to your social media and tag me. Are you going to make a watermarked image your profile pic? Prob not.

My photography packages include the rights to your images in my pricing, which is another reason I don’t need to watermark. Do I want people stealing my images? Nope. Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible nowadays with all the technology making it too easy. If someone steals a photo I took, I have my RAW images and the word of my clients saying I took those photos. If a client of mine asks for their images to not be posted to social media, I don’t, making it much less likely they will be stolen anyway!

If you come across a stolen image and know the photographer, please alert them! A simple Instagram DM usually fixes the issue!
